Kathy Kautter
Kathy Kautter is a former member of the Reston Art Gallery. She
began her art career as a painter but recently has focused on
photography as an art form. She loves to capture the abstract
quality of nature, be it a close up of a pattern on a leaf or the
shapes formed by waves or clouds, or the negative spaces created by
the intersection of branches on a tree. Reflections in water are
another favorite subject.
Kathy has a degree in Political Science from Wilkes University, and a Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from The George Washington University, Washington, DC. Her first love has always been art, so she redirected her eduction to take art classes at NOVA, as well as classes from various professional artists in the Northern Virginia area.
One of her photos of a cherry tree was selected as one of 100 for a special exhibit of the FotoDC National Cherry Blossom Festival photography exhibit in 2011. Another photo was accepted by FotoDC in 2012 for an on-going exhibit at the Crystal City Business District.
Kathy is a past president of the League of Reston Artists, as well as a past board member. She is also a founding member of the Herndon Old Town Gallery. She exhibits in many local art shows and her work can also be found on several online photography websites.
